CD 1:the Commentary back to: CD Central Just by July

Firstly, me doing a 'commentary' of a written work is totally derivative of Josh. He did one of these for “Movie Guy,” I plan to do one of these for most of my early works. They seem to warrant it, as they were only moderately well written and some jokes were a little inside.

Most of my stories are written with very little planning, they just sort of unfurl. The initial idea for Cow Defender was had at KenTaco Hut at 119th and Metcalf in Overland Park. It was after an odd night of genuine adventures. That night featured Josh and myself, and later Casey.

Josh had written a couple of Condiment Man stories by this point. We had a talk about how to change that night's events into a Condiment Man adventure. Steven was a protagonist along with Condiment Man. The Steven in that story decided to become a super hero, that super hero was to be Cow Defender. This was his first little walk after deciding to be Cow Defender.

The earliest version of CD was far beyond Quixotic, but really quite mad. He was not anchored tightly with who I was, and it is odd to read this far back. The man was a complete lunatic, with a pillow weapon and a pile of paper as a sidekick.

The newer version of the story is fine with him being further out there than I tend to be, it still sort of embraces it, but it attempts to reign in those that aren't him. The thugs were replaced with people from a really adventure Josh and I had, long ago.

Those thugs once asked us how many bones we had on us.

The banana smoking was something I'd heard someone had tried to do in middle school.

CD1v1 was cleaned up, there'd been typos and redundant words. The lameness was retained for the most part. It was tempting to bury highly flawed early work, but it seems more my style to supply more than the demand.
